Venue The conference venue is Faculty of Journalism, Lomonosov Moscow State University, 9 Mokhovaya street, Moscow, 125009 Russia. We are located right across the street from the Kremlin and Red Square, in the very heart of Moscow. Visa invitations:
- If you need visa invitation, please send in the following information together with registration form and abstract: scanned copy of your passport (main page, scans of previous visas are not needed), your office address, name of the city where you will apply for Russian visa, dates of your trip to Moscow.
- Please send all required information (registration form, abstract, information for visa invitation) in one email at moscow.readings@mail.ru;
- We will start working on your visa invitation right after we receive registration form and abstract from you;
- Usually it takes 1-2 weeks to produce visa invitations. All invitations are generated by the chief international office at MSU and not by the Faculty of Journalism itself, thus sometimes the process can be longer than 1-2 weeks (although it doesn’t happen often);
- While invitations for EU citizens (those bearing EU passports) are normally produced within a 1-2 week time, invitations for non-EU participants can take up to a month, since they are produced by the Federal Migration Service of Russia and not MSU;
- An important thing you should remember is that the invitation you will receive from us is not a visa. You will need to apply for Russian visa in a Russian consulate or visa center to have visa stamped in your passport.
- If you do not need visa invitation (i.e. you bear passport issued by a visa-free country or have Russian visa which will be valid during your trip to Moscow in October 2019) but still need a formal letter from the Faculty of Journalism stating that your abstract is accepted for the conference, please let us know at moscow.readings@mail.ru. We will generate a formal letter which you can show at your university, for example. Please mind that this letter is not a visa invitation.
Publishing opportunities Best papers will be considered for publication in peer-reviewed Vestnik Moskovskogo universiteta. Seriya 10. Zhurnalistika, the leading journal in media and communication fields in Russia. The journal is included into the database of the best Russian journals RSCI (Russian Science Citation Index), basing on the Web of Science platform. Best papers will also be considered for publication in World of Media. Journal of Russian Media and Journalism Studies, international peer-reviewed journal published in Russia. Both issues should be out in 2020. Information on other publishing opportunities will be available shortly. Excursions The cultural program of the conference will include guided tours of Red Square and Zaryadye Park. Red Square is a famous symbol of Russia. For centuries, it has been in the centre of dramatic changes and great victories. Conference participants will see the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral, Monument to Minin and Pozharsky, State Historical Museum, Lenin Mausoleum and other sites. Zaryadye – in contrast – is a new park built in the historic centre of the city, a stone’s throw away from the Kremlin and Red Square. It was opened in 2017 and is now one of the landmarks of Moscow. One of the advantages of Zaryadye is a picturesque view of the Kremlin, which visitors can enjoy from a floating bridge over the Moskva River. The tours will be given by MSU doctoral students in the English language (free of charge for conference participants).
